Once upon a time, Vardhman Mahavir was travelling by foot to a lonely forest to meditate when on the way, he met people. They greeted him. He blessed and preached them the five vows of Jainism. They warned him not to go to the forest as a dacoit named Shoolpani was living there and he might harm Vardhman. But he didn't care and went to the forest. Seeing the God coming towards him, Shoolpani became angry and ordered his pet snake to bite the God. The snake approached the God and was about to bite him when Mahavir asked him what will he get by biting him. He also called the snake by his name in his previous birth. The snake realize his mistake and bit Shoolpani instead. He was moaning in pain when Vardhman treated him with his supernatural powers. Shoolpani apologized for the same and became a Jain monk with Mahavir's guidance. Moral:- Patience and love can heal even the outraged person.
