Metals and Nonmetals All the elements on the earth are of three types, They are metals, nonmetals and metalloids. Metals are hard, lustrous, malleable and ductile, Nonmetals are gaseous, liquid , soft or fragile. For Conducting electricity and heat, metals are known; Nonmetals don't have these properties except Graphite alone. Metals are hard but some are very soft. We can cut with a knife, sodium or potassium rod. Cesium, Gallium, and Mercury, have a different nature, These three metals are liquid at room temperature.
