The Story of the Ashok Tree There was this tall Ashok tree on the way to my house. Everyday, on my way to home, I loved to feel those branches that hung upto my height. Its shiny and smooth leaves after rain made my day. My face brightened up everytime I passed along that tree... The tree knew me and I knew the tree... We both were akin to each other... After a few days when I was on my way home, I saw that the road was covered with branches all over. I was worried and I ran upto the Ashok Tree and there it was shattered and lonely as a chopped trunk. It was no more a majestic tree. It lay there as a log of wood. I was disappointed and so was my mom at the sight of the shattered Ashok Tree.... When I queried, there was just this simple answer, "It was coming in the way of the electricity lines. We have to put up a transformer there." It rained today, All the trees that have grown up recently are shining with dew drops all over their fresh, green and tender leaves. When I see all the trees enjoying the rain, I miss the Ashok Tree ... The Story of the Ashok Tree...
