she leaves him without a trace. like a ghost, she simply disappears. as he shouts another abusive call, while he starts another childish tantrum, she is already on her way home-- back to the loving fold of those who loved her first, to her dad, who taught her what love should be, and to her mom, who showed her how to be strong. she loved him but she knows that it isn't bad to love herself as well. in the end, the memory of her father's silent protection and the ghost of her mother's abiding strength made her realize that she wanted more. she deserved more than the conditional affection he gave her, or the regular beatings he bestowed on her, or the constant derogatory labels he called her. she realized that love isn't worth it when it makes her hate herself or when it means living a life full of fear. with her body bearing the scars he gave her and the broken pieces of her heart, she inhales her first breath of hope. she is finally going home. love can be abusive and no one should ever allow anyone to perpetuate such evil behavior. the danger of being in an abusive relationship isn't apparent because it starts with small issues and then gradually involves bigger things. hurtful name-calling becomes accompanied with physical beatings and then realization may come too late when abuse already results in psychological/mental derangement or even death. it is important to intervene and stop any type of behavior that might exhibit evidence o
