Stop expecting anyone to stay. Remove all notions that someone would even prioritize you because you've already found out so many times that no one would. You've given your heart so many times, only to be proven repeatedly that it will always be a losing battle. So, here's the newsflash: No one will remain. They'd come into your life, make you think they would never leave... and then they use you and then leave you when you've served whichever purpose they had for you in the first place; and fool that you are, you keeping letting them do that, only to be left with your heart crushed to pieces once again; your soul empty and abused. Because you let them. You let them get to you. So, the next time someone comes along and promises you forever, let them work for it. • hush the daylight and you were a thief • ( 8 ) 'life's not easy', you can't say. you weren't the showman, now show them. show them the heartstrings that strum no more, the thumbs and the fingers that were about to be cured, a mouthful of ulcers holding the unsaid words, memories on the fingers triggered by the handlines she chiseled. a shame? that she left you in the lurch with just a text. guilt? of not having the firm hands. doldrum? of slipping the rom-com you once had. or fault? of defying yourself to have known her the best? maybe none.
