When i was a little kid I used to be an extremely passionate cricket watcher. I mean, I used to cry when India lost a game. Watching cricket on television those days was quite a challenge even though I was the pampered kid. Sometimes it depended on Papa's mood, sometimes it depended on electricity, and sometimes it depended on the type of guest we had on game days. If everything was okay, the late nights were still a problem because the day-night games usually lasted a couple hours late to what was the family's sleeping time.

I remember some crunch games which promised some serious thrill were not completely watched because of the scolding I used to get from Papa. He used to say I should study instead. I used to get angry and upset but I could do nothing. I used to cry in front of Mommy and begged her to somehow persuade Papa. She really did help sometimes but many games were missed. And you know, we didn't have youtube highlights back then. Missing a big game was a big loss. It used to make me angry when everybody talked about the game with sheer excitement the day after and I had nothing to offer. I am fond of my memories. I really am.

Just yesterday I was watching the Chennai game. MS Dhoni had just hit Chakravarthy for a powerful shot through the covers. I was sensing a great game ahead.
