छोटे बालों वाली लड़कियाँ एक शाम जब समंदर सूरज निगल रहा था, हम दोनों रेत पे नज़रें गड़ाए चल रहे थे, तब वो मेरे बालों को देखते हुए कहता, ‘मैंने सुना था छोटे बाल वाली लड़कियाँ होती हैं उद्धंड, बदतमीज़ और आवारा।’ मैं एक उँगली से भवों पे आ रहे बालों को समेट कर बोली, ‘मैंने तो जिया है छोटे बालों वाली लड़की को, और मुझे पसंद है उद्दंड, बेबाक़ और आवारा होना।’ एक गहरी साँस भरी मैंने और कहा ,’लेकिन एक उमर में मैंने भी सवारे थे अपने लंबे बाल, बचपन में एक बार मैं अपने खुले लंबे बाल ले कर खेलने गई थी पड़ोस में, लेकिन पड़ोस के अंकल ने दे दिया था एक अनजाना सा डर। मैंने घर में कहा, तो सबने मेरे बालों का दोष बताया और डाँट के कह दिया मुझे, ‘उद्दंड लड़की’।’ ‘स्कूल जाती थी मैं कंधे पे चोटियों को सजा कर, लेकिन सर की उँगलियाँ नापने लगी मेरी चोटियों को, मैंने दूसरे सर से बताया तो उन्होंने मेरे बालों का दोष बताया और नाम दिया मुझे ‘आवारा’।’ ‘मुझे अच्छा लगता था बालों में फूल लगाना, उन्हें सजाना, फूल दिलाने के बहाने कज़िन ले गया कहीं दूर, बीच रास्ते से भाग आई किसी तरह, घर आ कर जब उसकी बुराई की तो दोष मिला मेरे बालों को और मुझे नाम मिला ‘बदतमीज़’।’ मैंने फीकी मुस्कान पहन कर उसको देखा और कहा, ‘सुनो, ज़रूरी नहीं तुम मुझे पसंद करो, लेकिन मुझे पसंद है उद्दंड, बदतमीज़ और आवारा होना।’ नहीं पता कि उसे पसंद आया था ये सच सुनना, नहीं पता कि उसके निःशब्द जवाब में हाँ थी या ना, नहीं पता कि वो अब से मेरे बारे में क्या राय रखेगा, बस पता था कि, बालों की लंबाई कुछ भी हो, लड़कियाँ तो लड़कियाँ ही होती हैं। ©sabr #Women

गाँठें सालों से माँओं ने अपनी बेटियों को भेंट की कई सारी गाँठें, कुछ मन से, कुछ अनमने ही! प्रेम को अपराध बता कर एक गाँठ बाँध दी, सिखाया प्रेम के बिना ही जीते जाना कहना ‘जो हुक्म मेरे आका’ और एक गाँठ बाँध दी, सिर झुका कर जीने के सारे गुण भरे अपने सपने ख़ुद मत देखना, और एक गाँठ बाँध दी, जिसमें सबकी ख़ुशी हो वही काम करना तुम अवमानना एक अपराध है……. शायद माँओं को भी ऐसे ही कुछ गाँठें मिली होंगी विरासत में। अब ये शृंखला तोड़नी है, इन गाँठों को खोलना है, भयभीत हो कर कुछ नहीं करना है ग्लानि कोई गहना नहीं है अपना जीवन ख़ुद लिखो, खूब अच्छे से लिखो……… कोई फिर से तुम्हें मिटाए, फिर से ख़ुद को बनाना तुम कोई फिर से तुम्हें हराये, फिर से जीवन जी जाना तुम ©sabr #Women
