You can eye me midst hushed thoughts banged against the walls of my home. Gripping a thousand hopes, and multiple number of knives to stab the newfound hopes, I walk back and forth. I walk on the granite floor barefoot. In the really small, narrow passage. From the main door to His foyer. A few seconds of scampering, over the nails I gnawed and spit down. I usually swallow them along with dirt and promises. But sometimes, the ones I spew roll to me before I step my foot on the floor. I embrace them. Of course, I do. After what seems like the umpteenth journey, my brain bursts from digging too much from it. But my soles! And my soul! They bear. For they know, I've walked a zillion walks sitting on the couch, biting the cuticles, and peeling the layers of dead skins from chapped lips. Still, barefoot.
