Crippling words spew forth As I open my mouth to spin a reply-- Spurning the crushing chokehold That I carefully forged. Inane verses inveigle to escape As I attempt to withold the prickling ache; Yet, like an abhorrent deluge That's been stifled for very long, A wrath so unlike my usual humdrum Springs forth from my enkindled soul. Dare I permit myself This yearned-for freedom? But, fate can be such a vengeful adversary And my enfeebled humanity Mayn't withstand its fabled clout. The wraiths cackle with abject impunity While I scream the hateful phrases That shall lead to my eventual demise.
