I like how time moves slowly on Friday
It pulls you back slightly
Lets you arch your back more
Stretch your neck
To ease the painfully long days
I like how Friday doesn't just let you go
Into the weekend
No, not so easily
It prepares you to halt
For you have been speeding all week
The mad rush is now behind you
And Friday ensures
You seep into the next day
Not enter into it hastily without a thought
I like how thoughtful Friday is
It knows we need the time to process
And prepares us
For the sunset that day
For tomorrow, a new you will emerge
Fresh, energized, confident, spirited
Readily accepting the gift of a break
That came with Friday Read all in the series #dayoftheweek

There is something comforting about Saturdays
You look back on the week like a faded memory
Won't remember what you ate
Or what time you went to sleep
Friday's conversations seem fresh in your mind
And you play them on repeat and rewind
You lie in the sheets longer
And don't really care about the time or hunger
A strong smell of coffee fills up the room
Which brings back some memories out of the blue
The household comes to a standstill
And no chores or to-do lists come into sight
There's something comforting about Saturdays alright!

Long drawn baths
Scented candles
Fresh coffee
On a lazy Saturday

An old movie
Your head on my knees
Waiting for rain
On a lazy Saturday

A September Story...or more like a August story #timeandthoughts #dayoftheweek #august #September #Calendar #Month

I am caught between end of August and start of September. I don't want to let go of the good things of August.
The dancing in the rain, the swimming in mini pool of clogged water in balcony, the dressing up for Teej and Rakhi, the fridge full of sweets which now rest at fat inside me comfortably.
August was good. I read on some nights, slept before midnight, woke before the sun did and loved every bit of it.
And today as September started, it didn't feel like it did. Instead, it felt like a party's high point. The skies went crazy, rain gods left no mercy as if even August didn't want to leave. But when the calendar insisted, August decided to leave with a bang- smugly spill over the first day of September.
So here I am, sipping my coffee with August on a drizzling September evening, unable to move on, hoping September doesn't begins after a blink. A September Story...or more like a August story

Why do Sunday evenings feel so typical?
It's always the same routine
Plan the Monday, think ahead
Make sure you have enough groceries
Cross check the weekend checklist
Ponder over the tasks incomplete

Why do Sunday evenings feel so mundane?
No thrill of a Friday night
No promptness of a Saturday brunch
Peace getting replaced by anticipation
Worries resurfacing like a bubble

Why do Sunday evenings feel so morose?
Like the slow overcast but no drop of drizzle
Like the left over dew from nights of drinking
Culminating to a really bad hangover

Why do Sunday evenings feel so empty?
As if we used all its currency already Series of poems on #dayoftheweek

I wish today was just another Monday.
When I could wake up cribbing on the start of another week, knowing the endless pile of work constantly growing. When I could reminisce the relaxing weekend, spent gardening or reading or binge watching a favourite show. When I could eat the leftover pizza from Saturday night or cringe on the dishes in the sink from Sunday noon.

But today didn't feel like just another Monday.
Today seemed like a new beginning. The one with some faint memories of those who left us behind. A Monday when I woke up without a hurry or a worry. A Monday that bought out a rested, recycled and refreshed me- a day I had thought (for a long time) I would never see.
