Four tier aluminium box it used to be Each box containing different dishes Lowest with rice, going upwards with dry sabji and roti. Immediately above tarka dal with floating ghee. Uppermost with dessert of the day, or raita if cooking has been delayed. Today it's altogether different, lunch boxes in different sizes and shapes packed with peanut butter or chicken mayonnaise sandwiches. Potato chips as an accompaniment with a sealed pouch of ketchup for added taste. The sentiments behind packing a lunch box is beautifully portrayed in the movie LUNCH BOX. #CITYSLEEP Having made Bengaluru my home for almost a quarter century, there has been cleary, a directional change in sleeping pattern of its peoples. Ask why? Simple! With the explosion of BPOs, software industries spreading like weed, the city now stays awake in conversation with overseas clients. As if in the hurry to climb up the corporate ladder, night and day conspired with the software professionals to erase any distinction. The earlier days of muted nights, are replaced with the tapping of keyboards. So you catch them taking a shut eye while travelling to their work place, during lunch break, if there is any. No wonder the city which prided itself of well dressed men and women, now sees them in track pants or crumpled shorts with drawstrings hanging, touseled hair, unshaved, at every public place.
