Hope lies in the comma of love. #over #prose&Poetry #over&Out love life #yopowrimo #yqbaba

The music is over.

Life is prose again.
Safe, though prosaic.

Our verse,
a simmering cauldron,
occasionally scalding,
but I miss the heat.

Can we go back
to the original structure
of our grammar?

Hopefully, just over,
not yet over & out.

Fingers crossed.

Until then, life on hold.

 Hope lies in the comma of love.

i speak of many
things, when doing
poetry and prose;

some are about me;
some, about others;
still, a lot are about
all the thoughts,
whirling inside my
head;

i am merely the pen
that writes all of them,
on tissue paper. #tissuepaper #pen #poetry #prose #yqbaba

a short story. #Eyes love #Call #prose #yqbaba

he was complaining because he couldn't see the road. his eyes were weak because of a genetic malfunction. his doctors say he could go, totally, blind because of it.

"i can't see the stupid road and you keep talking. how am i supposed to concentrate then?!" he demanded, harshly.

his girlfriend made it really hard, sometimes, with her incessant bleating, that he'd lose his temper, all the more.

"i'm sorry, love. don't worry. if i die, you'll get my eyes. i promise," she told him sweetly. it made him feel weird. sometimes, she could say such things, off-handedly.

months passed and his eyesight weakened. he even had to change his eyeglasses again. this time, it was thicker; the grade higher.

the girlfriend was long gone. he got rid of her, a few months ago. he couldn't take her nonstop chatter.

his phone was ringing and he answered; his anger rising again. the static was terrible.

yet, the news made his mind blank. the call was from his ex's mom. she was crying as she said his ex was dead. she told him to hurry up because he had to undergo immediate operation--to receive his ex-girlfriend's eyes. his ex, specifically, asked that it be given to him, in case, she dies. a short story.

there are moments
like this, when i

in the same realm

writers, such as me.

Modern Slavery: A Reaction Piece #slavery #abuse #overseascontractworkers #prose #yqbaba

the clamor for freedom has always been so loud that it has become one of the basic rights of humankind. yet, it is paradoxical to see a lot of people still suffering slavery, mainly, due to poverty.

one heavy example would be overseas contract workers, particularly, those who work blue-collared jobs. they enter a new country to serve rich employers who, in turn, force them into slavery. slavery, i say, because of the following reasons:

first, they don't get paid enough;
second, they are overworked;
third, they aren't given proper benefits, specifically, those stated in the given contract;
fourth, they, usually, don't have days off;
fifth, they are forced to do the allotted stay or pay the entire amount of expenses, garnered by their employer who sponsors their working visa;
sixth, they don't hold their passports; and
seventh, most of these workers experience multiple abuses from their employers.

not all employers are abusive, of course, but most of them are.

so, is slavery abolished, then, or not? aren't we all the same, in the eyes of God, if not society?

therefore, it is but important to treat everyone humanely; regardless, entirely, of job and societal status. Modern Slavery: A Reaction Piece

    An Outing at the Park with Nana and Maa

ME: maa, look at those two lovers. they look so sweet. maa, tell me about how you met pitaji.

MAA: yes, they look sweet, beta, but it was different during our time. before, you met your future husband or wife, with the guidance of your elders. i met your father because of your dada and nana's long-standing alliance. pitaji and i were fated to be together.

ME: but, maa, was it something you wanted? didn't you question it or even fight it?

MAA: no, beta. we weren't really allowed to question these things. it was the way things were done. besides, pitaji was always a good man.

NANA: naati, love has always been something developed between two people after marriage. it was a sacred union between two souls, destined to be together; guided by familial bonds and society. it was also a way to strengthen links. most unions, made under the guidance of elders, never ended up in heartbreak and divorce. now, love seems to have become underrated. relationships, nowadays, have become too easy to form and also easy to throw away.

ME: i want a love like that, nana. i want a love that lasts forever. a conversation about love.

thoughts of rain. #rain #importance #Water #prose #yqbaba

i've always wondered about the significance of RAIN, in so many cultures, all throughout the world.

i come from a place, where the rains are as rampant as the days. the climate is, normally, cold. it was always a must to carry an umbrella and wear thick clothing, especially when going out.

the danger, brought by heavy rains, was always the possibility of landslides; due to water saturation and eventual erosion.

water was always available.

a blessing, for us, was a rare sunny day; an occurence, only during summers.

it is only now, that i am in a hot and humid area, that i see the benefits of heavy raining.

water is a scarce commodity, here in the lowlands. rains are rare. even the monsoon rains don't last long; and typhoons don't really make any significant contribution to water availability.

a sudden downpour is always a blessing. children and adults, alike, go out and play under the rain.

therefore, i realize that there are certain things that are taken for granted because they are easily available. we only realize their importance when we are forced to live, almost, without. thoughts of rain.

love letters, written by hand, are things of the past. with the advent of the internet and the various 24-hour door-to-door deliveries; the excitement felt, when one receives personal MAIL, has waned considerably.

the fact that it is so easy to connect with people, all around the world, nowadays; even values have changed.

before, receiving word from a loved one, took several weeks and the letter was read several times before a reply was made. the answer had to be specific and well-thought of; in order to have clear understanding between both parties.

now, easy access, to mailing and messaging, has made it too easy to reply without further thinking. sometimes, we even ignore replies, especially because we are simply too busy, to be bothered with them.

which leads to another thought: has this also led us to, unknowingly, believe that people are also easily expendable, nowadays?

although, that's another topic for next time. #mail #wordoftheday #people #prose #yqbaba
